Stripe Rug In A Colorful Living Room

5 Interior Projects With Statement Rugs To Enhance Your Home Decor

Statement rugs are a powerful tool in interior design, capable of transforming a room from drab to dynamic with just one piece. Check out 5 projects to inspire you: They can add color, texture, and pattern to a space, instantly elevating it and creating a focal point that draws the eye. In this blog post, we’ll explore the use of statement rugs in interior design and how they can enhance the look and feel of a room. Best Interior Projects With Statement Rugs A room can be instantly transformed with the addition of a bold rug that introduces a new color or color scheme. Whether it’s a bright, punchy hue or a softer, more muted shade, a statement rug can add depth and interest to a room that might otherwise feel flat or uninspired.  To help you understand a little better the use of this powerful resource in the world of interior design, we have selected five projects below that have gained an extra touch of elegance with the use of statement rugs. Check them out: 1 –  The Mid Century Modern Kew Residence – By John Wardle At the Kew Residence, located in Melbourne and featuring Victorian ash walls, floors and ceilings, three brightly printed rugs were arranged under a wooden coffee table. It is worth noting that the idea of layering statment rugs is a technique widely used in interior design, as it is not only a trend, but also adds more texture, dimension, and interest to the spaces. This property features artwork in vibrant colors that complement the touches of color and elegant shapes found in the rugs. The house’s renovation by John Wardle Architects studio highlights unique moments of woodwork and finely designed and crafted furniture to celebrate the art of cabinetry. With a Mid Century Modern Style idea, using wood as the primary material and neutral tones allowed the client’s extensive art collection to add color, pattern and texture in various places to reflect the individuality of the space. 2 – The Walsh Bay Penthouse – By Greg Natale This two-story, three-bedroom apartment is an award-winning project led by interior designer Greg Natale and features the creative use of curves and soft colors, including soft pinks and yellows. Curves can be found in the staircase, fireplace, marble kitchen island, bathroom walls, modern European furniture and even statement rugs. In the living room, the choice of curves and colors, which very much follow the Memphis style design, worked together to create a sophisticated and serene space that combines luxury and comfort. Rugs inspired by this style movement are a great way to add personality to an interior, as this style demonstrates that being bold and daring is never too much. 3 – The Historic Schoolhouse Apartment – by White Arrow To celebrate the heritage of an 1800’s school in Brooklyn, White Arrow used Retro and geometric statement rugs to create a relaxed and attractive atmosphere at the same time. In every room of the New York apartment, one can find rooms that are cheerful, rich in detail, and very well decorated. The choice of rugs was thought precisely to bring lightness and clarity to the rooms, which serve as the focal point of the living areas thanks to their playful shapes that combine textures in tons of lilac, green, yellow, and dark blue. 4 – The Colorful Victorian Old Louisville House – by Bethany Adam We cannot fail to name projects that feature statement rugs without mentioning this colorful Louisville home. Although it is more conventional in style compared to Bethany Adam Interiors’ other projects, the design and decorating approach of this renovation was historically considered.  Materials were carefully selected to withstand the wear and tear of a young family with pets, while the furniture was chosen to complement the classic Victorian style of the home. For the living room, the professional chose to match the decorative items with the same colors as the carpet to create unity to the space. Striped rugs are classics in decoration and stand out for their versatility and for the elegance they add to the room, making any space unique and different. 5 – Quai Aux Fleurs Apartment – By Fleur Delesalle This elegant Paris apartment, located on Île Saint-Louis, features walls and ceilings in creamy pink tones, with curtains hung at high heights to highlight the ceiling height. The style is a mix of modern, traditional, and minimalist, with references to the Art Deco style – very popular in Paris during the 1920s. The project, by Fleur Delesalle, has large spaces and lots of natural light. In the living room, the highlight is the choice of cozy decoration, achieved through the use of pastel colors overlaid with deeper tones, which also follows in the choice of statement rugs. “There is a lightness in the composition of the whole apartment, complemented by striking touches of color within a palette of soft materials.” Layers of textures, such as leather, velvet and polished metal surfaces, add richness to a minimalist aesthetic that is evident throughout the home. As seen, statement rugs are a versatile and effective tool in interior design. They can add color, texture, and pattern to a space, instantly transforming it and creating a focal point that draws the eye. Explore This Luxurious Modern Design By William Sofield In The World’s Skinniest Skyscraper

Located in New York, more specifically in Manhattan, this skyscraper faces Central Park, and it was the place that William Sofield chose to conceive this luxurious modern design. “We’re responsible for bringing joy and beauty into people’s lives when they come home and inspiring artisans to craft environments of enduring quality.” This is how William Sofield describes his profession. Graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from Princeton University, William Sofield stands out for his projects’ clarity, quality and sagacity. He is considered one of the most thoughtful talents of his generation. His office, Studio Sofield, applies to various services from residential and environmental design to retail, corporate and hospitality projects and exhibition design. His portfolio of work spans projects with clients as varied as Salvatore Ferragamo, Ralph Lauren, Gucci, YSL, Coach and Violet Grey. In each project, beautiful and functional solutions emerge based on an artistic concept balanced by an unfailing sensitivity to the needs and tastes of the client. The uniqueness of the project William Sofield and his team were tasked with completing the interiors of 111 West 57th Street, also known as Steinway Tower – a super tall skyscraper in New York City, with the particularity of being the world’s skinniest skyscraper. This skyscraper has 84 floors, is 435 meters high and has a height-to-width ratio of 24:1, which makes it truly impressive. This tower is connected to the famous Steinway Hall, a building full of history, which was once a landmark in the vicinity of Central Park. William Sofield challenged himself to create a luxurious space, as it had to be in a place like this, and with a modern design. However, William intended to extend references to the historic building under the tower, with some elements of that same building, such as the recycled original piano loading docks. In this way, the interior space of this building became something glamorous, with the saturated extravagance of New York’s Gilded Age with the restrained modernity of the elegant silver tower. Let’s Explore 111 West 57th Street Every house starts with its entryway, and William Sofield wanted to make that clear in this modern design project. The designer presented these suites with a truly differentiated and impactful entrance for those who visit this space. What stands out at first glance is the size of this division, with the entrance always being associated with a smaller and less worked area, William Sofield wanted to leave these generalizations aside. This division became a large and open space, making the entrance to the house an airy and ideal space for a first contact of conviviality and conversation. Neutral tones are very well used in association with the lighting used, with light tones ruling this place, which then combines very well with the contrast of darker tones, such as the baseboard, doors and piano, an item often used by William Sofield to give the reference touch to the adjacent building. Another component of note in this room is the limestone floor, which is also recognized throughout the rest of the house. Some more specific items give the final touch to the entrance of this modern design project, such as the golden palm trees in the center of the room, and the door handles, which allude to the shape of the skyscraper.              Throughout this modern design house, the concern with lighting and landscape exploration were themes of attention for William Sofield, something we can see in spaces such as the living room. With a magnificent view of Central Park, it was evident that the designer made this use to make this space even more unique. The window fills the entirety of the wall, which is in keeping with this landscape use. The dominance of light tones remains, with William opting to cut the inclination in this space by contrasting dark tones. This space’s more minimalist style aligns with the modern design trend. This minimalist trend can be seen with simpler elements used by the designer, such as the simple sofas, the rug, lamps, and the space itself, being an open and clean space. In the kitchen, however, the presence of dark tones in contrast to the base of lighter tones is already verified. This contrast is carried by the presence of an unknown element in this modern design project so far, the use of wood. The floor is no longer made of limestone and is now made of wood, as are many of the pieces of furniture that equip this kitchen and the bar chairs. However, the minimalist trend and landscape use remain in line with the rest of the house. The use of stone is found on the kitchen island, adding the luxury and glamor that William Sofield proposed to this modern design project. Throughout the rest of this modern design home, touches of magnificence are easily identified, such as in the masterful bathroom. Entirely coated with limestone, it elevates the function of this division to a magnificent place, with recessed lighting in the ceiling, which significantly benefits this space. Finally, the unique bathtub that William Sofield chose being the final touch for a moment of relaxation in an intimate space like this one. A modern design house that focuses little on quantity and rather on the quality of details, this will be the best definition for the work of William Sofield, something that extends according to the minimalist trend sought by the designer and the pretense of luxury and glamor. A challenge for the designer in a space as unique and relevant as the Steinway Tower. If you are looking for inspiration for your space, explore our TAPIS Studio projects page! Entry Of Summer Thornton´s Project

Maximalist Style Like Never Before: Summer Thornton Maximize Your Horizons

A different way of looking at the maximalist style – circumventing the minimalist trend by bringing MORE IS MORE into our place, explored by Summer Thornton! With a studio based in Chicago, Summer Thornton is an interior designer with a reputation for her bold and dynamic creations. She leads projects across North America, where Summer recurrently uses a maximalist style. She fits her bold style with the belief that each space should be unique, and each house should be like a mirror of each one’s particular style, meeting their passions and personalities. Summer Thornton carries her artistry beyond interior design projects, earning a Fine Arts degree from the University of Arts, Norwich. He worked as a scenographer for theater before starting his career as a designer. She also released a book “Wonderland: Adventures in Decorating” which is an Amazon bestseller. The ebb and flow of the maximalist style Like the waves in the sea, this style bounces back and forth in the fashion and trend of the moment. Appearing in the early 80s with the start of the bold and unconventional design work of Ettore Sottsass, the maximalist style is something we know that, however much it is off the radar of use by interior designers, it always comes back to the limelight. And this is precisely what we have been witnessing recently, with new designers coming up with innovative and risky ideas, but carrying ideas already explored at other times, something that can be explained by the saturation of the minimalist style that has governed interior design over the last few years. The maximalist style goes far beyond filling a room with too many things Sometimes misinterpreted, the maximalist style is associated with something negative, mainly as a result of the minimalist trend. The maximalist style got a very upset image with the arrival of the minimalist style, and for obvious reasons, as they are the complete opposite. However, just as the minimalist style can be applied well, so can the other, as Summer Thornton demonstrates in her projects. Here are examples of these good practices: • Environments that play with various color patterns, based on a common color palette; • Use of multiple layers to help link the different colors and patterns in the space; • Objects or elements that provide the “WOW” feeling; • Excessive use of accessories and detailed elements, but all well planned in terms of the space they will occupy, to bring a visually stimulating result; • Application of strong colors to energize the space; • Use of unique architectural forms, presently such as benches, sofas, mirrors, beds, etc.; • Incorporate unique items, preferably with a personal and emotional connection, such as family heirlooms or travel souvenirs; • Explore Memphis style pieces, which usually fit well in these spaces; The maximalist style challenges any interior designer who tries to use it. Unlike minimalism, this one has to keep the space harmonious and welcoming, but it also has to combine all the elements and expressions that will be arranged in the environment. Something that becomes challenging because, as much as it is intended to make a vivacious and expressive space, the final purpose of a house is to bring the comfort and well-being of those who live there. For these reasons, the minimalist style gained so much strength to the maximalist. Over time, families ended up preferring an open and clean space, which brought a feeling of rest and peace. However, in recent years, the opposite trend has been observed, as reported by several interior designers. Families began to realize that the minimalist style, in its saturated use, brought monotony to homes, leaving the impression that all houses were the same in today’s times. In this way, the intention on the part of the families to have a space that is unique, different from all the others, and that at the same time brings life, being a welcoming and passionate space, began to emerge. For these reasons, the maximalist style has been rejuvenating in interior design, with the desire for a space full of elements that connect emotionally and personally. As we have seen through Summer Thornton’s designs, it is possible to create a wonderful and welcoming space through the maximalist style, something that is sometimes seen by people as unthinkable. The challenges of this style are enormous, no doubt, but when applied well, we can create a space we will be proud of! If you want to add a maximalist element to your space, check out our shaped collection by TAPIS STUDIO. Photos: Summer Thornton Design

Dining Room Rug Guide: The Best Tips to Choose the Perfect Piece

Here is the complete dining room rug guide that will help you to find the perfect piece to complete your layout with beauty and comfort. There is no other piece as a rug to add comfort and beauty! In a dining room design, the perfect rug will help to protect the floor while enhancing the room’s aesthetic. But choosing the right piece for that function requires special attention, and that is where we came up to help you! In this dining room rug guide, you will find everything to choose the perfect piece that will elevate your dining room layout with an extra dose of comfort and beauty. Read on for the best tips and wonderful ideas to create your ideal dining room design. 1. The basics Let´s start this dining room rug guide with the basics: the size. For that, we will remind you about two essential steps to do before choosing the perfect rug to elevate your layout; with these steps in mind, which will be much easier to discover the better piece to match your design. The first step to finding the correct size for your rug is measuring the dining table; it will help you to realize how big your dining room rug needs to be. The second basic step to selecting the best rug for your dining room design is to remember to have an extra edge on all the sides of your rug; because the dining chairs will need to be always on the rug. So to find the perfect piece, you must ensure that your rug size can cover the chairs. 2. Dining Room Rug Tips Finding the perfect rug shape for your dining room rug can be easier than you imagine! To find the perfect rug to combine into your design, you can start by reflecting your room shape or mirroring the dining table shape into your rug. Let´s imagine you have a round dining table, in that case; you can go with the same shape for your rug to give a flawless look. Remember that we talked about the best dining room rug size? The rule is that the rug needs to cover the dining table and its chair, so you don´t need to worry if it doesn’t cover all the other furniture. In fact, it´s important to let the room breathe and have some floor space without a rug. The golden rule to designing with a rug is to start by choosing the rug and then the furniture and decor items; in that case, you can mirror the rug colors and patterns into your layout. If you already have the furniture and decor items, you must ensure that your rug colors and patterns will combine with the existing room decor. For that, don´t be afraid to mix and match, but always with harmony in mind 3. The best ideas Another important step to finding the perfect dining room rug is… discovering beautiful ideas! And that´s why we have gathered some amazing ones for you; check them out: The perfect rug in the dining room area will make the spot looks more comfortable. Combining the soft texture of the rug with neutral hues will make your room even cozier. Get inspired by a natural look with this charming spot design by Liljencrantz Design, where the neutral palette of beige and white allows the chandelier to be the big room star, while the rug is there, improving its coziness. We already said that a good tip to help to find the perfect dining room rug is to mirror the table shape into the rug, and here we have a beautiful example for you. In this cozy spot, the rug follows the table shape – and helps to create a space that looks bigger and with harmony. In that case, the oval dining room rug shapes reflect the table and give a unified appearance to the room. The dining room is also the perfect spot to go bold with the rug choice, and a good option for the layouts that need to be more impactful is choosing a rug with striped patterns. This design is perfect for modern or traditional dining room areas and can add a timeless and sophisticated look to the space. Besides increasing the aesthetic, striped rugs can emphasize the length or width of a room and make it look bigger. Another beautiful way to add a dining room rug to your layout is by making it the room´s central point – for that; you can choose a bold rug with irregular shapes, strong colors, or incredible textures and patterns. Introducing a rug as the room’s focus can increase it with an extra dose of character while improving its comfort. We already mentioned that rugs are the perfect addition to improve the dining room´s comfort and aesthetics, but they can also be useful for working as a room separator. In that case, you can use the rug as a division for the dining area and the rest of the living area, which will help to delimit the space beautifully. If you are working with a minimalist design, the dining room rug can be an excellent way to give the room extra interest. In this wonderful layout by Jeremiah Brent, the designer chose a rug with geometric patterns following the room palette, adding more character and interest to the space. To find the perfect dining room rug, it´s necessary to start with the basics by knowing the size, shapes, and colors that will help to make your design even more beautiful; then, you can have fun with different ideas to make your room looks unique. This rug guide explored all the steps to select the perfect dining room rug, and now you can go and find the one that better matches your room´s needs. Modern Luxury Project By Jamie Drake

Inside a Modern Luxury Project in Manhattan by AD100, Jamie Drake

Modern luxury is the hallmark of award-winning interior designer, Jamie Drake. Fall in love with some details of this Manhattan Residence project that is pure glamour: Vibrant eclecticism is one of the main characteristics of the New York-based company created by AD100 Jamie Drake, whose pieces strike the perfect balance between timeless and luxury modern.  Among the projects the renowned interior designer developed, good taste and glamour are constant elements in his portfolio, especially in residential projects. Every year, the AD100 Hall of Fame features some of the industry’s iconic professionals who have revolutionized the interior design and deserve special mention. Jamie Drake joins the select list as one of the names specializing in modern luxury interiors.  His studio, which as of 2015 began a partnership with Caleb Anderson, is known for its bold approach to color and its sensitivity to fashion. The duo creates sophisticated interiors that are luxurious, refined and always have a touch of the unexpected. Get to know about this modern luxury project in downtown Manhattan. The Initial Project: A Cozy And Luxury Oasis After completing other projects for the same client, Drake’s studio was tasked with adding touches of magic to a new iconic building in the heart of New York’s oldest area, Manhattan. The brief was simple, but still challenging: with their love of food and wine, the clients wanted a space where they could relax, and share their passion with friends and family. The project merged two different apartments that created a 7,300 square-foot space with infinite 360° views of Manhattan. With a complexity of finishes in rich minimalism, the team had to completely reconsider the initial layout, reducing rooms to expand the living areas. The result was stunning: a new kitchen, 7 bathrooms, a wine room, and amazing architectural details throughout. Among the changes, one worth highlighting is the wide, sloping curves of the ceiling, created to provide a dynamic contrast to the linear architecture of the building’s exterior and give a sense of amplitude.  Simplicity, practicality, and functionality are the main characteristics of the modern luxury decoration style. Excessive accessories are replaced by a small amount of imposing pieces that are key and enhance any decor. The color palette follows a very monochromatic and intimate pattern, varying between graffiti tones, grays, blacks, and whites. The few pieces that stand out are directly associated with the decoration items, such as vases, pillows, or furniture (mostly yellows and blues). Among the living spaces, for example, we can highlight four different living rooms, which follow the same modern luxury style.  The Living Spaces The first one has a large curved gray sofa, which goes with a beautiful dark woody coffee table. The yellow and gold details can be seen in items such as the armchair in textured fabric, in the vase above the centerpiece, in details of the cushions, in the set of floor lamps, and in the metallic gold bench. The second one has a lot of natural light, coming from the large windows that compose the room. The highlights are the sofa, the stone coffee table, the oval essential rug, the side table with shiny accents, and the set of stools (all in gray tones). Jamie Drake’s great magic is to transform ambiances into elegant and unique spaces, without losing the modernist aesthetics. The third living room is also a real delight! Following the same color palette as the modern luxury previous ones, the highlight is a dark blue daybed that, in contrast with the use of copper and gold, makes the room super charming. The choice of each piece of furniture in the house was carefully thought out by Drake/Anderson, who designed most of the furniture in this modern luxury apartment. The fourth space, considerably smaller than the previous ones, “leaves nothing to be desired” in terms of levels of luxury and good taste. It also features gray tones in the main furniture and highlights furnishings such as a textured wood center table, a sideboard, and a set of table lamps. The Modern Luxury Master Suite The master suite could be no different: the almost panoramic view of the bridge connecting New York and Brooklyn makes the atmosphere even more special. The fully upholstered bed in blue pastel, whose headboard and footboard have gained details, is followed by a bench at the end of the bed in neutral hues. Two other eye-catching pieces in the room are the drawer and the bedside table, both in light tones and following the curved furniture trend for 2023. The complexity of details, materials, and textures throughout the apartment culminated from vision and craft to create this luxe, urban, art filled oasis in the clouds. Any interior that is thought in modern luxury style is already inspiring. Now, if it is designed by a renowned interior designer, the flavor is different. Jamie Drake has the power to add traces of his elegant personality to his projects, while respecting his clients’ objectives to the maximum. The result is spaces that are wide, exciting, and designed for maximum delight. Thinking of rooms full of life and personality, TAPIS Studio has a selection of modern rugs made for stylish and daring spaces. Complete your project with exciting shapes and vibrant colors!

Modern House Design by Tom Stringer: Bringing Africa into our home

Traveling to distant lands from our place, a modern house design with a desire to cross the walls in a cultural trip. Passionate about traveling, Tom Stringer connects to his greatest passions in a union of inspiration and discovery. More than two decades ago, he founded his company to provide design solutions. Over these years, he went to the 4 corners of the world to gain knowledge, as demonstrated in the book he published in 2017: “An Adventurous Life: Global Interiors”. His procedure is motivated by the fascination with travel. In this way, Stringer unites cultures and traditions in his works to create a unique and distant space. “I never wanted to have a signature look. I believe that great design is about storytelling, and each story is unique, just like each individual is unique.” this is how Tom Stringer works on his projects, approaching the design process as a journey to discover the story that each client and house counts. Stringer’s design doctrine is essentially based on the well-being that a home has to offer to the family. An African house in Florida In a different style, Tom Stringer tried to execute this modern house design using what he always believed to be the differential in his projects. In this modern house design, we can slowly perceive the elements that contemplate the connection to a distant place. As we lean into the images, we notice the presence of peculiar elements, firstly, the illustration of animals in some frames, such as zebras and lions. Then we began to establish the connection that Tom Stringer had prepared in this modern house design, with the presence of figures and elements more characteristic of the people of that area, both in the furniture and in the choice of colors. In this way, we could conclude that this modern house design leaned towards the theme of the African continent. After this first exercise, all the references and allusions that Tom Stringer explored in this modern house design become clearer. A journey inside this modern home design The significant factor that Tom Stringer wanted to explore in this modern home design started right from the base, making clear the contrast of colors and how present this would be throughout the house. What stands out the most all over the house is the presence of dark colors, mainly brown, in contrast to the white that dominates the color of the floor and walls over most of the house. Brown is used in more central areas of the rooms to bring prominence to these elements, such as chairs, tables or sofas. However, not only is brown in association with references to the African continent, but we can also sometimes find the presence of orange in some divisions and green, presented by the vegetation. Despite the designer’s effort to contemplate this space with so many elements and references, Tom Stringer is also committed in his projects to offering a welcoming space that allows for well-deserved rest. In this way, Tom was concerned with providing a simple and warm space so as not to make it overloaded for those who use it. We can understand this with the presence of open spaces, where sometimes you could place a sideboard or a chest of drawers, but Tom Stringer chose to leave cleaner and more open spaces for this modern home design. The way Tom Stringer worked on this modern house design was homogeneous, seeking to deliver a unique identity to the house throughout all the divisions. It is rare, if not impossible, to see elements that deviate from the original identity of this project. With this, the designer intends to completely combine the feeling of travel and convey to the family a sense of distance from reality to create unique ties with space and provide a feeling of comfort and convenience. In every room of this modern house design, from the entryway to the outdoor, we can find these pieces of connection to the African continent, such as statues, decorative items, and even the type of furniture, which is always very similar to what we associate with these types of places. The use of wood in almost every room in the house refers a lot to these associations, proving Tom Stringer’s intention. This wonderful modern house design ideally conveys what Tom Stringer intends with his projects. The comfort deserved in a distant experience, all within our own place. In this specific project we can see how the tradition of a reality so far removed from ours manages to be incorporated into our intimate space, offering a unique and cozy experience. Certainly, something that travel lovers would like – find more inspirations at on our project page where we gathered the best of interior design projects by TAPIS Studio. Photos: Jorge Gera

Lois Robbins' Modern Apartment In Central Park

Good Taste and Stunning View: Lois Robbins’ Modern Apartment In Central Park

A modern apartment can seduce even the most classic of lovers. Spacious, bright, and airy, meet actress Lois Robbins’ home in Central Park! Located in the bustling heart of New York City with a stunning view of Central Park, the apartment was transformed into a dream home through the work of personal friend and architect, Andrea Miranda. The actress’s modern apartment is a testament to her style and celebrity status. Lois Robbins’ place embodies her iconic personality and exudes style, possessing all the hallmarks of a celebrity home. The choice of the Modern Style in the decoration was not just a coincidence. Practical, with functional furniture and windows that favor the entry of natural light, the space that the actress shares with her husband, Andrew Zaro, invites anyone to fall in love with each room.  Art and Comfort In The Same Space Under Anthony Ingrao and Randy Kemper, the interior design team faced a challenge in creating a home for the celebrity couple that perfectly blended their love of art and paintings with their need for comfort and coziness. Boasting a collection of over 100 works of art, including both hyper-realistic and abstract pieces by renowned modern artists, Lois Robbins’ modern apartment serves as a testament to their appreciation for art. However, the true highlight of the home is not the art, but the rooms themselves. “We aimed to treat all the rooms as elegantly as possible, where art only added to the luster”, says Kemper.  Exuberant and lively, much like the actress herself, each space is bursting with color and texture, making anyone who enters feel instantly astonished. The design team’s original proposal of a sky blue wall finish was quickly changed to Bordeaux, the actress’s favorite color, to provide guests with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The centerpiece of the room, the steel, concrete, paint, and 24-karat gold center table, provides the perfect backdrop to the textured sofa and armchairs. Every thoughtful detail of the modern apartment The modern aesthetic of the apartment, with clean lines, geometric shapes, and natural materials combined with individuality, creates a unique and personalized atmosphere. And the first impact is seen right from the living room. The space represented a challenge for the designers due to its three glass walls and the need to maintain a spacious, airy, and at the same time cozy environment for the residents. To accomplish this, the furniture was chosen to give the illusion of “floating” in the large, open room.  The central table was positioned next to the sofa, its curved design providing both a light and practical touch. The other furnishings, with their wavy and spherical shapes, complement the overall design style and are further highlighted by strategically placed sculptures and artworks. As an actress, singer, and entertainment enthusiast, Lois Robbins’ modern apartment often serves as the venue for lively parties. For this reason, the space also has a piano and a bar, that provide opportunities for the couple and their guests to share and enjoy good times together. The dining room in the modern apartment is fit for a true movie star — and exudes luxury —. It features two separate seating areas that perfectly balance sophistication and good taste. The larger dining table is a renowned designer piece, while a comfortable sofa for added comfort accompanies the dining chairs. The entire apartment boasts large windows that allow for ample natural light, creating an interior atmosphere of peace and relaxation while maintaining its contemporary and bohemian essence, true to the actress’ style. For the couple’s bedroom, the modern apartment houses a neutral and rather intimate color palette. The rich brown of the wood furniture perfectly complements the neutral tones and geometric shapes of the overhead lamp — which is one of the few light sources considering the set of windows with the beautiful view. The custom-made bed is dressed with personalized embroidered bedding, adding an extra touch of luxury. The light-toned, velvety carpet adds to the overall comfort of the space. The room is finished with a floating table anchored by a table lamp and a wall-mounted TV, completing the well-appointed decor.  The bathroom in the actress’ modern apartment features expressive tones in the finishes, which are mostly stone. This luxurious and intimate space is designed specifically for the famous actress, who prefers to have a private retreat to herself. “We don’t share a bathroom,” Robbins says of her and her husband’s primary suite. Like a true “bath girl,” the bathtub is positioned by a large window overlooking the city, providing a tranquil and relaxing space. A white side table is accompanied by decorative items such as a vase of flowers and scented candles to complete the ambiance. Lois Robbins’ modern apartment is a refuge in the middle of New York City, with stunning views and a dash of luxury. Check out more living room inspiration on the TAPIS Studio projects page. Rugs are a pretty addition to any home, but picking the right one can be challenging. In this rug size & placement guide, you will find how to select the perfect piece for your layout. Rugs are an excellent way to boost the aesthetic and comfort of any interior design project – no matter the style or room division, these pieces are essential to any home that wants to be stylish and comfortable. With an incredible range of models in the market, choosing the pieces that better match a project can be challenging. So, let’s simplify this process? In this rug size and fitting guide, you will discover the best tips to select the perfect piece according to each home division. Scroll down to discover everything you need to know to nail your rug picks! Remember the basics: Before entering our rug size and placement guide, we have some reminders to help you choose the better rug to boost your interior design project with additional comfort and beauty. When selecting the perfect rug size for your interior design project, you should have in mind the room space, but it is not what determines the selection of the better piece. Instead, you need to focus on the balance between the furniture in the room – where it is positioned and where the rug will be placed. The perfect rug will help to unify the room and create balance and harmony in your room. Rugs are all about beauty but especially about comfort. When selecting the perfect rug size for your room, think about where you will position it and if it will be large enough to cover the room with an extra dose of coziness. Imagine placing the rug under a bed; for example, in that case, you should guarantee a safe space on the edges. There are many rugs with different shapes, patterns, and colors. To select the perfect one, you should select the one that better matches your layout style. So, this basic tip reminds you that besides the rug size and placement, you should also care about your room aesthetic. With these three basic reminders, we can continue with our rug size and placement guide; keep reading to discover how to select the perfect piece for your interior design project. Rug Size And Placement Tips It’s time to discover how to select the perfect rug for your project! Take note of these rug size and placement tips that will help you on the task of finding the piece that better matches your room needs: 1- Bedroom A rug in the bedroom can give the dose of coziness that this space needs. A main tip to help you to select the better rug for your bedroom project is to focus on the bed size. In the bedroom, some common ways of adding a rug are: to place it under the bed, on the sides of the bed, or in front of the bed. If you place the rug under the bed, it’s important to ensure that the piece is large enough to guarantee safe boards on both sides and in front of the bed. Now, if you place the rug on the sides of the bed, you will need to select two small pieces that can fit in the desired spot. Runners or custom pieces can be the perfect choice for this option. Placing a rug in front of the bed is a good alternative for smaller rooms – in that case, you need to guarantee that your piece will cover part of the bed and provides a safe area in front of the bed. 2-Living Room A rug in the living room can help to tie the room together, enhance the acoustics and add an extra dose of boldness. There are many possibilities for placing a rug in the living room, and to select the perfect piece to complete your design, you should pay attention to the furniture and the layout. The rug size will depend on the arrangement and the room’s needs. Check out some ideas and rug sizes for this space: Adding a rug under the furniture will help to pull the room together and unify its aesthetic. You must ensure that the rug has enough area to cover all the furniture pieces and have extra edges. Another way to add a rug in the living room is by placing it under part of the furniture, which will help make small spaces look bigger. To create an emphasis on the rug, the ideal is to place it in the center of the furniture; you need to ensure that the rug is slightly longer and wider than the furniture. 3- Dining Room The best rugs for dining rooms make you secretly take off your shoes and enjoy a soft texture while savoring a delicious meal. But how to find the perfect one? The answer is in the size of your table and also shape; to place a rug under the dining table, you need to ensure that it will cover the table and still have a space on the borders. Take a look at some examples: If you have a large dining table, it´s important to have a big enough rug to cover the table and the dining chairs and still have a safe edge. For a medium dining table, you can have a smaller rug but still, ensure that it will cover the furniture pieces and have a safe edge space. For a small dining table, oval rugs are a good option to emphasize the area, making it cozier and more beautiful. 4- Entryway Roll out a rug into your entryway design project to make your layout’s first impression remarkable. When considering the best rug size for your project, you should pay attention to not covering the whole floor, guarantee safe border spaces, and place it according to the door entrance. The perfect piece to elevate your project will depend on the space that you …

Wesley Moon

A Wonderful Beach House Project By Wesley Moon

Let’s walk through Wesley Moon’s artistic creation, from a hurricane-damaged house to a whimsical beach house project. “My projects balance simplicity and complexity, the new and the historic, comfort and surprise.” this is how the New York-based interior designer characterizes his projects. Formed as an architect and designer at Georgia Tech, Wesley Moon is experienced in brilliant residential design. Wesley produces his projects to commit to a consistent final result, conveying knowledge of interior design and decoration, as well as architecture and custom furniture. From custom furniture to structural solutions, Wesley and his team aim to create something unique that connects with the client, always contemplating the balance between the contemporary and the eclectic. The fascination with the exquisite and the perfect influences Wesley to become an associate of distinction in interior design. A unique beach house Located on the Atlantic dunes in Mantoloking, New Jersey, this beach house project was conceived by Wesley Moon, but it is a project with its own particularities. Wesley Moon was called by a client who had recently seen his home damaged by a hurricane, giving Wesley the challenge of breathing new life into this space. The designer began to take advantage of the pieces that survived the catastrophe, including a ceramic collection that belonged to the client’s wife, benefiting from the colors that these pieces could present, blues, greens and oranges. The color was highly prioritized by Wesley, who wanted to carry the concept of the house on the beach to a side more focused on the sea and everything to which it relates. In this way, Wesley and his team opted for the use of touches of pink and coral to give the unique feature of this beach house project. Let’s explore this beach house project Trying to illustrate this beach house project is detailed but at the same time simple, which shows a little what Wesley Moon intended for this space. Focus on details to arrange within a simple and clean environment. Most of the elements, if not all, chosen by Wesley in the decoration of this place, from the furniture to the choice of colors, are connected with the designer’s intention to transport the space to a dimension connected to the sea, so the presence of blue is practically instantaneous to perceive as soon as you see the interior of this beach house. Various shades of blue are used along the walls, always in contrast with the rest of the elements present. The play of colors between different shades of blue is also something explored by Wesley Moon, exploring the contrast that these different tones can allocate. This beach house project is enchantingly designed. All the surroundings of this place are designed to offer a peaceful and freeing time of rest for those who enjoy it. The light tones in almost the entire house are designed to convey that feeling of calm and tranquility, which will be the most sought after by customers who want to spend the weekend at their beach house. The way in which Wesley Moon was concerned to give a different life and a unique identity to each room in the house demonstrates how this beach house project was prepared to treat and satisfy the needs of all family members. Even if the basis of the entire project is the same, we can see that each room in the house has its history and characteristics, sometimes having a different color than the usual blue used, such as yellow in one of the bedroom. In addition, the brightness is another of the positive points that this beach house project offers, with natural light being used very well, with very open and airy spaces. As the main concept is the house on the beach, nothing will make more sense than having a house in which the sun is used in all spaces. The more the decoration of this house on the beach is analyzed in detail, the more we can verify several units that refer to this environment related to the sea, such as pieces that illustrate fish, lobsters, corals, shells and even the use of seagulls. In these details, you can see the detail with which Wesley Moon worked on this beach house project. Of note is the magnificent washbasin used, in which we have the shape of an octopus around it. Due to the use of so many elements in a detailed way, the overload of the space could be a threat to this environment, however Wesley was careful not to make the space massive in terms of its filling, leaving the simplicity and harmony of the area. Wesley Moon’s beach house project shows what we can expect from the interior decoration of such a space. A peaceful environment that brings the best of the sea into your home. A place that everyone deserves to escape the stress of daily routine. Mid-Century Style By Andre Mellone

Mid-Century Style And Brazilian Influence: Meet Andre Mellone, AD100 Interior Designer

The Mid-Century Style is famous for inspiring projects by interior designers all over the world. Meet Studio Mellone, created by a member of the AD100 list 2023. Every year Architectural Digest Magazine brings together the top names of professionals in the fields of architecture, landscape, and interior design who promise to make some noise. This year, Andre Mellone came to AD100 Debut list with his work focused on Mid-Century Style. Mallone’s portfolio features residential, retail, and hospitality projects, and founded his own studio in 2012 after working for architect Robert A.M. Stern and designer Mark Hampton. “Design is as much about emotion as it is about style and look” is how Andre Mellone, a designer born in Brazil but based in New York for 25 years, saw his work take shape and made his name among the top revealing professionals of the international market.  With an elegant harmony between the use of natural materials, Studio Mellone knows how to play with spaces, making them informal and chic at the same time. The artist’s work is subtle and sophisticated, recognized through texture, materiality, and precision of form.  New talent on the rising: meet Andre Mellone Mellone’s talent, who grew up surrounded by brushes, prototypes, and canvases, follows generations. His grandmother was a classical painter and sculptor, graduated in Italy, and his father is one of the greatest industrial designers in Brazil, a reference for the style to which Andre dedicates himself today, the Mid-Century. The influences started early on since his father’s circle of friends included names like Sérgio Rodrigues and Jorge Zalszupin, two giants of mid-century Brazilian design. It was the style that predominated at the time and also what he saw at home since the interior designer grew up in what he describes as “a house with chocolate brown carpets, a living room with inlaid stools, a tulip table, and artichoke light fixtures,” typical of the style. A new definition of Mid-Century Style Mellone’s resolutely modern and undeniably chic aesthetic can be found in many projects from the beginning of the São Paulo architect’s career. The mid-century style can be found in his choice of simple and functional leather and wood pieces, classic materials of the style, and one of the trademarks of his work.  Another highlight that can be observed in his projects is the flawless combination of wood with other materials, such as metal, glass, and vinyl. Mellone has the perfect balance to transform whatever the objective of his work is – be it residential, commercial, or hospitality – into cozy environments full of personality. The architect has a touch of sensuality and a warmth that is not seen in other professionals, which he has somehow incorporated into his work. The combination of neutral tones, textures and the best materials converge in unforgettable interior results. In Andre’s case, the natural artistic talent for drawing and the influences of Brazilian culture are at the core of his style, executed to perfection, which often blends in with his client’s lifestyles.  The use of mid-century furniture is also an indispensable item in his projects, which can be seen from lighting to seating and tables. The best of Studio Mellone To begin the list of Studio Mellone’s inspiring Mid-Century style works, nothing better than to bring the project created in the architect’s hometown of São Paulo. The top designer has developed an atmosphere of relaxation among the chaos of the big city and created an environment of pause.  The “refreshing” touch of the house can be seen in the high glass walls, along with the warm woody tone of many of the furniture in all rooms. The project is a true invitation to get to know each room, as well as the beautiful exterior, thought out precisely as a complement for rest. The design of this house includes meeting rooms, a dining room, a home office, and a cinema area. This is a true ode to mid-century style in a growing Park Avenue tower in Manhattan. Mellone’s design follows a simple line and features many original vintage pieces-such as a rare Eames plywood and prototype leather chair and an engraved mid-century Venetian mirror with double ebonized oak frames. For the colors, a palette of neutral tones ranging from grays, blues, and woodsy tones was chosen. The few touches of color you will find are in the wall art, seasonal flowers, and a pine-green quilted window sill in the bedroom that echoes the view of Central Park. Andre Mellone has retail experience thanks to his friend Thom Browne, who asked the Mid-Century style interior designer to make his stores “look more like homes”. Since then, Mellone has designed projects for Jason Wu and, most recently, the Carolina Herrera flagship on Madison Avenue.  The building of one of the most traditional fashion brands had not been renovated since 2000. So after replacing blocked windows, adding stone and parquet floors, and adding lots of textures and color, the space has become comfortable and welcoming, making it “home” again for the luxury brand. All three floors have an air of grand living rooms while displaying tradition and boldness, from the choice of pieces to the composition of details. After looking a little deeper into the work of the architect and interior designer Andre Mellone, it is possible to highlight the good taste for the Mid-Century style and also the influence of his Brazilian origins in the projects. Appointed as a talent in the area, Mellone knows how to explore spaces in a refined and functional way at the same time. Eclectic Home Design In Malibu With Neutral Tones, Vintage And Modern References

A Luxury Oasis: Take a Look at Cher´s Eclectic Home in Malibu

Revamp by the AD100 Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Cher´s eclectic home mirror the fame of the goodness of pop. Step in and explore all its details. Cher is the name of pop – with a long and successful path in the music and entertainment industry, she is always inspiring with her incredible work, which innovates year after year. And, of course, her eclectic home also mirrors the artist’s talent and is full of outstanding inspirations. Cher´s mansion is a real luxury oasis located at one of the most famous beaches; the Italian Renaissance-style building is filled with art and lsuh touches and was revamped by the top AD100 Martyn Lawrence Bullard. Read on to discover more about this eclectic home. An Oasis Worthy Of A Queen As you can imagine, it took time to create an oasis, and this specific one took almost five years to be completed. The paradisiacal location on Malibu´s beach was discovered by Cher in 1998, and then the singer started to transform the enchanted location into her ultimate eclectic home. Cher is magnificent, and her house too- a remarkable space that reflects her individual preferences and interest in design and architecture, built with the art and personal collection she made through the years, showing that more than a stunning spot, it´s also a meaningful place. The style reference also came from Cher and her numerous magazines where she looked for references to create her ultimate home – which, most of the time, presented Venetian palazzos, the great Renaissance villas of Europe. The result is a stunning build with more than 16,000 square feet sharing an Italian Renaissance style, stunning ocean views and a mix and match of different interior design styles – creating an eclectic and unique design. When we look at this eclectic home, we can notice that it’s worthy of a queen – and, yes, it belongs to one. Inside The Luxury Oasis If the outside of this eclectic home is outstanding, the interior completes its magnificence! Cher got involved since the beginning to create her ultimate home; originally she worked with the interior designer Ron Wilson and years later invited the AD100 Martyn Bullard to a design revamp. Together, Cher and Bullard recreated every detail in her signature manner, which combines sumptuous comfort with theatrical grandeur and a classic color scheme. The Eclectic home interior is a beautiful blend of luxury, story, and personality; the tone of the interior is set by Renaissance-style references, which combine high-quality materials, arches, and a mix of textures but also incorporate modern elements, vintage pieces and a lot of references from Cher´s personal taste. Art is everywhere in Cher´s luxury oasis, from the art objects that help to create the home narrative to Eastern-inspired ceiling paintings, hand-distressed mirrors that produce magically reflecting walls, and warm Moroccan-inspired lighting. Get Inspired Room by Room Every space of this Eclectic interior design has beautiful details, which is why we will explore room by room and what transforms this luxury mansion into an idyllic paradise. Starting with the bedroom, which Cher recalls as her sanctuary, where the highlight goes to the walls and curtains – made using a blend of leaves and coffee grounds, recreating a henna a traditional henna design; the inspiration came from a wedding that Cher attended in India, where she got a henna painting on her hand. In the bedroom, Cher also created an living space where a rug create the division between the sleep area and the living. And if in the bedroom, Cher´s meaningful memories helped to make a real dream space, in the living room, the light and breathtaking views are responsible for creating the perfect room. Together with the incredible landscape, a curated selection of antiques from the 19th to 17h century embodies the room with a vintage and historical atmosphere. Cher didn’t forget to add an extra layer of coziness to her living, and choose a neutral rug to delimitate the room´s space while also give a dose of comfort and warmth to the space. In the dining room, soft white reigns while the vintage decor items and mid-century furniture give the character that this eclectic interior home deserves. While in the kitchen, black and white are the backdrop for the beautiful landscape, which can be seen from the charming window, which welcomes the natural shades and gives the hint of color that the space needs. In contrast with the neutral color palette from most home spaces – a powder room covered with limestone rises in this eclectic home design. In addition to the room, wall sconces, bronze faucets, and walls with aged mirror panels create all the charm and glitz that a Hollywood star deserves. Balinese panels that form a hanging headboard dangle over a bed in one of the mansion’s guest suites. Following the master bedroom design, a lovely pair of old Moroccan lampshades are displayed on the bedside tables. Cher´s Eclectic home is the real definition of paradise, an oasis in the middle of the beach that reveals stunning ocean views and a mix of references, styles, and materials. It´s a home worthy of a queen! We hope that you get inspired by this stunning interior design – find more inspirations at our project page where we gathered the best of interior design projects by TAPIS Studio.
