Home Interior Design Revolution: How to Style a Garage?

Explore the home interior design revolution of a SoHo parking garage and discover four essential rug styles shaping the home’s interior. In the home interior design, sometimes the most unconventional spaces can become the canvas for the most extraordinary transformations. Converting a parking garage into a residential sanctuary is a formidable task, and this particular garage has lingered on the market for quite some time, waiting for the right visionaries to transform it. The Guttman family, renowned art collectors, were the ones who saw potential in this cavernous expanse that would be the canvas of Daniel Sachs and Kevin Lindores’ creation. The primary objective of the home interior design project was to take this industrial shell and craft it into a comfortable yet artful home, all while paying homage to Guttman’s distinguished art collection. While passing our fingers through the hidden wonders of this astonishing home interior design project, we discover the heart lies not only in the skillful hands of Sachs Lindores but also in the intricate artistry of the Mitchell Denburg Collection. Hailing from Guatemala, the Mitchell Denburg Collection is a workshop manned by multi-talented and skilled individuals who craft the most exquisite bespoke carpets and luxury textiles. Each rug that graces the floors of this remarkable home interior design bears the name of Mitchell Denburg, a stamp of unparalleled quality and artistry. Living room: Two-In-One In this incredible and complex home interior design, not one, not two, but three living rooms were conceived to meet the Guttman’s diverse needs! However, we will only focus on the two with the intervention of Mitchell Denburg with the same rug design specially customed for Sachs Lindores. These rectangular treasures sported subtle dark accents that elegantly danced with the beige tones that define the home’s interior design, creating a symphony of light and shadow. Dining Room: A Feast for the Eyes At dinner time, multiple feet can rest over this elegant carpet. With neutral canvas, this rug sucks the intensity of the dark walls and lightens up the mood of your meal and of the all room. The shaped patterns and textures given to this item in this home interior design were meticulously crafted to evoke the geometric shapes that mold so much of the dining room’s aesthetics. Office & Guest Room: More Than That The custom rug designed by Sachs Lindores for the office is a stark contrast to the dining room’s rug. Favoring a grayscale palette, courtesy of Mitchell Denburg’s exquisite work, it seems to bottle up the display of colors on the walls, mirroring the seriousness necessary in a workspace. Interestingly, the same rug seems to grace the guest room, but now, with a distinctly different intent. Here, the rug accentuates the darker tones and intensifies the warmer colors, creating a cozier and more inviting atmosphere. Primary Bathroom: A Clean Escape In the bathroom, its interior home design wasn’t afraid of washing away all the darker tones, taking over a minimalist and elegant style. A custom mat, blending seamlessly with the wooden accents, brings a sense of tranquility and cleanliness to the luxurious escape. In addition to providing a practical purpose, ensuring a slip-free environment, it also adds to the room’s aesthetics. Primary Bedroom: Contemporary Aesthetic For the primary bedroom, the designers opted for a contemporary aesthetic. Mitchell Denburg was once again called upon to introduce a burst of color in the form of a vibrant blue rug. This addition balances the warm tones of the room, infusing it with a refreshing and lively ambiance. With the Right Rug, Everything Is Possible! In this tale of reinvention, we’ve witnessed how an unconventional parking garage can be reborn as a sophisticated and artistic haven. Each rug in this project tells its unique story, contributing to the harmonious color scheme and the unified aesthetic of the home interior design. TAPIS Studios encourages you to go further and discover more incredible rugs for your upcoming projects, where the possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

Brutalist Design Living Room With Black And White Furniture

The Brutalist Design Revolution – Unleashing The Power of Raw Beauty

The mid-20th-century brutalist design movement has been the spark of conversation throughout the latest centuries – and some demystification seems necessary. While some praise its raw, expressive forms and emphasis on materials and construction, others have criticized it for its heavyweight appearance and excessive use of concrete. This article will explore brutalist design, its relationship to architecture, art, and interior design, and how one designer, Jae Joo, has turned this controversial style into a chic and functional interior design concept. What is the brutalist style? Brutalist Style Architecture displays a predilection toward heavy use of concrete and the bold, often massive structures it creates. Artists have honored this architectural style for its “timeless quality” but, at the same time, condemned it as one of the most criticized styles in recent history. Can Brutalist Art Be Turned into Chic Interior Design? Yes, it’s possible. Some designers, like Jae Joo, have found ways to incorporate brutalist design into their creative expressions. Jae Joo Designs, a New York-based interior design firm, specializes in creating unique visions of comfortable luxury. Jae Joo’s ability to blend old and new and her passion for vintage align perfectly with brutalist style architecture. Jae Joo, the head designer behind Jae Joo Designs, is renowned for her ability to blend luxury with comfort and cater to her clients’ unique lifestyles. Her work is a testament to her creative prowess, which has seamlessly embraced the brutalist design of architecture. Her recent project, a chic triplex in Tribeca, perfectly illustrates this. The Chic Brutalist Design Tribeca Triplex The Tribeca triplex, spanning 3,800 square feet, presented an exciting challenge for Jae Joo. The project involved transforming the living space, three bedrooms, and 4.5 baths into a family-friendly environment that retained simplicity, tranquility, and a neutral color palette. The artist herself claimed to have much creative freedom, with one essential condition – no animal-based products. Stepping into the living room, a sense of delight washes over you. The centerpiece, an inviting Edra’s On the Rocks sofa from DDC, beckons with its comfort and elegance, perfectly chaperoned by the sculptural staircase. This enchanting view is brought to life through the masterful fabric lighting by the brilliant Ruemmler, casting a warm, inviting glow that dances across the room. The shimmery coffee table from Timothy Oulton adds an extra layer of sophistication, creating a space where every detail is considered. This living room is not just a space; it’s an experience. A Pierre Jeanneret settee and chairs, adorned with a striking MOS Design coffee table, invite you to sit and stay a while. The exquisite faux cowhide rug further elevates the room’s charm, giving it the air of a slightly more formal sitting area where conversations flow effortlessly. The brutalist design was a triumph in the dining room, sparked by the guests’ enthusiasm for the desire to play with the BDDW ping pong table. This multi-use table not only adds a playful element but also serves as the perfect backdrop for a bespoke rug. It’s a space that transitions from formal dinners to lively game nights effortlessly. The kitchen holds a special place in this family’s heart since cooking is not just a task; it’s a treasured activity. Jae Joo has transformed it into a functional and aesthetically pleasing facility. Masterly hidden Gaggenau appliances and the patinated metallic façades contribute to the hyper-minimalist feel, making it a chef’s dream. Above the Dekton island, an Apparatus fixture hangs gracefully, while Pierre Jeanneret stools from P! Galerie provide the perfect seating for a leisurely chat. The primary bedroom diverges from the chic brutalist design to ensure a harmonious balance between the rooms. Jae Joo has created a serene retreat featuring a four-poster RH bed draped in a Toogood and Teixidors blanket. The blend of wool, oak, textured plaster, and onyx nightstands creates a neutral, soft, and calming atmosphere, inviting peaceful slumber and relaxation. A Success That Redefines Brutalist Design Brutalist design is about showcasing artistic ideas in their rawest form. It highlights industrial elements’ shapes, textures, and color palettes, offering a glimpse into humanity’s evolution and thought over the decades. Brutalist design may be a divisive topic in architecture and design, but it can create unique, timeless, and functional spaces. Jae Joo’s success in transforming a Tribeca triplex into a chic brutalist-style home is a testament to the versatility and beauty of this controversial design style. Inside a Connecticut Country House that Blends a Luxurious and Rustic Vibe

Meet this creative country house that gives the New England glamour a twist of contemporaneity Belonging to Jane Keltner de Valle, the cofounder of children’s skincare line Paloroma, and her husband, an AD100 designer, Giancarlo Valle, this country house, nestled in Connecticut, was transformed into an outstanding residence. This home is different from the other rustic buildings, as they successfully blended diverse approaches. However, they were also able to never outshine the main rustic style. To maintain the house’s original essence while giving it the owner’s own touch and personality, they opted to preserve the country house’s characteristic cubic structure. They highlighted it by painting the 1863 building white. The dark green shutters also contrast the house, an ex-parsonage of the city’s historic Greek Revival church. The homeowners have a very tasteful style. Therefore, they transformed their house with their smart and well-balanced design plan, providing a new complexion to traditional architecture. As this country house is intended to exhale a rustic atmosphere, it has walls made of wood, wooden beams on the ceiling, and is mainly covered in wooden furnishings. Many pieces were even crafted in a makeshift woodshop set up in the garage to enhance that style even more and bring it a special feeling. In other words, many of the house’s details were fabricated on-site. Even though the home is essentially made out of wood, it doesn’t feel old or non-luxurious. It’s the opposite. The house, full of rich paintings and artistic furniture, has a creative, refined look. This vibe was assisted through warm colors that matched the wooden tones, and that brought the design together. Thanks to the fabrics used, such as the soft neutral rug, the warm red couch, and the brown furry armchairs, the residence evokes a sense of coziness, warmth, and familiarity. As you have noticed by now, the use of natural materials is prioritized in this country house, that is enhanced even more in the kitchen, where the floor is covered in exposed brick, and where its counters and table are again made out of wood, but what especially gives this room a truly rustic feeling are the copper pans and faucet. To intensify this homely feeling, the designer selected light blue kitchen cabinets, which complemented the white brick walls. Beyond the natural materials, the residence is also enveloped mainly by a natural color palette. A perfect example of that is the main bedroom. Apart from its statement olive green color present in the bed frame, curtain, and rug, it’s also blended with the nature painting in the center of the room and wooden furnishings and decorations, balanced with the white walls, creating a natural, relaxed area. Despite having multiple different colors throughout the house, every room has its own essence while still feeling connected. We can see these differences by, for example, noticing that in some areas, the key color is a warm yellow, while in others, green, blue, or reddish tones predominate. Still, the design has an airy flow. That happens since the designer used common materials in every area, for example, the most dominant one, wood, but also brought an overwhelming comfort all over the house by using fluffy rugs that matched the main color used in every room. Another impressive aspect of this house was the interior designer’s ability to link the kid’s bedroom to the rest of its vibe, simultaneously giving it personality and a juvenile hint. A further interesting characteristic about this country house is the use of just one color all over one room. This radiates sophistication, comfort, and luxury. The structure of the house divisions also plays an important part in its contemporaneity. For example, the rounded corners on some passings of the domicile exude a polished and clean appearance. Now that this country house inspires you, learn how to achieve a similar look by discovering the best ways to incorporate neutral-tone rugs in your interior design projects!

Reviving the 19th Century – Jon Batiste and Suleika Jaouad’s Inspiring Vintage House

Let’s Embark Into The Charm of Jon Batiste and Suleika Jaouad’s Vintage House, Where The Present Meets The Timeless Tunisian Architecture In Brooklyn Town Home. Situated in the center of Brooklyn, this vintage house defies space and time. Its majestic arches and the way light dances across its walls transport us to the alluring architectural elegance of Tunisia, an exotic place.Jon Batiste and Suleika Jaouad define it as the ideal home; when we step inside, it forms the 19th century in Brooklyn, the perfect place for them to combine their two different artistic interests: Suleika’s need for quiet time with Jon’s need to explore his passion for music. We invite you to delve into this article to get inspired more about the fantastic story of this old house’s renovation and its distinctive combination of artistic inspiration and architectural allure. Jon and Suleika tried to balance their home’s interior design between the artistic and the functional as their tastes increasingly blended. We can see the artistic specifications inside this home, including a stunning living room fixture crafted from recycled water bottles by artist Willie Cole and a 19th-century. Their inspirations are visible in the art and decor they have collected. Bright paintings from other Artists mixed with paintings by Suleika’s mother, from Switzerland. However, Suleika’s grandfather’s collection of vintage posters adds to the visual story a specific beauty. A House of Harmony: Where Love and Dreams Dwell Suleika longed to arrange amusing rescued treasures and bring life back to every deteriorating gold roof. Jon Batiste, in the meantime, had plenty of ideas. He envisioned an interior with a Mardi Gras theme and a garden with a yellow brick road. This sparked passionate discussions and concessions as they worked through their mutual vision for the design of their new house. Exploring the Enchanting Vintage Home: A Glimpse into Timeless Elegance Their concept goes beyond simple beauty and touches the fundamental essence of the home. This is visible in the elegant curves and arches woven throughout the millwork, with a stunning ballet of lines and shapes. Vibrant colors complement white walls washed with lime, creating a visual poetry that honors New Orleans and Tunisia. Starting with the backsplash of blue ceramic tiles in the pink kitchen is a masterful design created by their friend Mokhtar Lahmar in the coastal town of Nabeul, Tunisia. Each blue ceramic tile glistens with a lustrous, inviting sheen, capturing the essence of a seaside escape and reminding one of the Mediterranean charm. The pairing of pink and blue creates an exquisite and melodic duet, a visual symphony that invites you to appreciate the sea’s majesty right in the center of their vintage house. Charm in Every Detail: The Serene Space Diving into the studio lounge, warmth and comfort take center stage. The bright, sunshine yellow covering the bed, an inviting haven, immediately radiates happiness and pleasure. The fluffy pillows, decorated in vibrant orange hues, stand out sharply against the calming yellow. They attract you to relax and dream peacefully as you enter their luxurious embrace. Two welcoming chairs with the same vivid orange fabric stand against the wall, appealing for talks and rest. Their joyful presence gives the space a lively touch and combines color and comfort, completed by a blue rug covering the space for warm feelings. A wallpaper with a lovely flower pattern in soft, pastel colors is hung on the walls. These flowers infuse the space with a sense of calm and kindness. Architectural Elegance: Exploring Other Corners The house is furnished with classic Parisian pieces expressing a passion for timeless elegance. It is also embellished with geometric rugs, linens, and ceramics from North Africa that have been gathered during a lifetime of travels to their original homelands. An Arabic-inspired prayer room in the heart of this vintage house reveals its deep and enduring appeal. A beautiful, traditional rug that covers the entire floor creates the mood. Its sophisticated patterns and rich colors tell stories of artistic tradition. The space vibrates with antiquity with each motif inside. However, the ancient stained-glass panel with jewel-toned tones steals the show. The prayer space is bathed in a spectrum of colors due to the sunlight filtering that floods the area. The way the light dances on the walls and floor transports you to a time when reverence and beauty were intertwined. Aesthetic Harmony: Uniting Elements As you enter the dining space, the same vintage aesthetic continues to tell its story. The dining room, next to the area with an Arabic theme, preserves the same air of classic elegance. The antique furniture and fine details continue the old concept, from the vintage chairs to the retro table. The same sense of history and love of culture continues you from the tranquility of the prayer room to the dining area. Inspired by the iconic design trends of the 1960s, modernist rugs give the city’s house new life and transport locals and visitors to an era of innovation and artistic enthusiasm. We Will discover how these rugs alter in London’s world’s priciest blocks, filling it with an attractive retro allure, from the colorful designs to the minimalist aesthetics that defined the era. The finest fabric was used to create this rug, which was elegantly hand-tufted. It gives the room a warm and nostalgic feel in the middle of the beige and yellow sofas, matching perfectly with both color palettes and inviting us to travel back in time while enjoying the colorful present. Timeless Charm in the Entrance With Modernist Rugs A captivating design world unfolds as you enter the home’s entrance hall. Firstly, an eye-catching, minimalistic rug stands out. An eye-catching modernist rug is distinguished among the stunning travertine stairs and gorgeous brass handrails. This masterpiece is functional and artistic with its geometric designs and timeless elegance. The arrangement of the hall’s creative components is built upon the rug’s subtle yet compelling design, allowing each to stand out independently. Mixing the black and nude palette in the same rug to revive the modernist charm of the sculpture. Elegant Hallway: Chic Allure of Modernist Rugs As you walk down the corridor, your focus is attracted to the modernist rug that covers the floor. The rug’s intricate designs and soft hues provide a pleasing background for the decorative pieces in the hallway. The rug, bathed in soft sunlight, provides depth and warmth to the corridor and clarifies every element. In this piece, we’ll look at how this modern rug’s neutral color palette and timeless appeal turns the hallway into a warm, inviting space filled with elegance and simplicity. Elevating The Living Spaces with Contrasted Modernist Rugs Color Palette A finely selected combination of design components, including the Bliss wool and silk rug, creates a comfortable and stylish ambiance in the living space. Starting with the first living room, where the blue color makes the sparkle in the dark sofa and decor palette, Its presence defines the space and offers a subtle grandeur that establishes the mood for the entire area. The room’s overall design style is complemented by the rug’s exceptional craftsmanship and delicate textures, which offer sensory and visual joy. The Bliss rug gives the living space depth and charm as sunlight shines off its surface, transforming it into a cozy retreat. We feel the contrast as we move to the media sitting room: two very different designs in the same home. Under the beige sofa, a dark rug color scheme with rich, deep tones creates an eye-catching basis. The beige sofa radiates a bright and welcoming charm, while the rug’s darker colors give the space a solidity and depth. The interaction of these opposed color schemes creates a pleasing balance and gives the media room a distinctive personality that perfectly matches the surrounding living space. Design Contrast: Styling a Rug in the Dining Area A hand-tufted rug covers the dining area floor, making it a welcoming and cozy place to gather. Its textured surface gives the space depth and warmth, creating the ideal environment for a relaxing dining experience. A group of seats, whose classic design lends the eating room a sense of elegance, surround a modern conference table with a glass base. Inspired by a modernist masterpiece, the circular structure makes up the eating area’s center point.
