In the metropolis of Switzerland, Zurich, the eccentric aparthotel brand Locke illuminates the lakeside city with the launching of the innovative Locke am Platz, characterized by its Riviera style, intelligent design and material contrasts embraced by the British design studio Tatjana von Stein.
Being six floors tall and encompassing 80 sections, this aparthotel has various elements, from hotel-style rooms and suites to studios with large living areas and completely stocked kitchenettes. This way, not only is the building aesthetically pleasing, but it’s also functional, including the wildly divergent amounts of staying times, either a short city break or a more long and tarry one. Beyond that, this edifice also contains a significant volume of quality social spaces, such as a restaurant, a bar, and a café doubling, which is used as a co-working place.
This aparthotel proves that opposites do attract! Using different textures, styles, and shapes can indeed be harmonious, balanced, and still creative. As it’s very clear, further on this design technique being elegant due to its soft and simple shapes, there is also the presence of a warm color palette, accentuated through the rugs, for example, and a sense of movement created by the lively patterns, including the striped style in the curtains and bench, the funky wave pattern on the wooden walls and the squared shape of the floor. Moreover, another characteristic of this aparthotel that provides a sense of modesty and coziness is the mix of soft, plush materials, including metallic or woody ones.
