Step Inside Bradford Shellhammer’s Impressive Modern Eden

At the 13-acre Stuyvesant getaway in New York, Bradford Shellhammer and his husband Georgi Balinov built the most vibrant farmhouse with a groovy interior design.

The reborn farmhouse, owned by Bradford Shellhammer, brilliantly manifested the interactions of color by using Groovy interior design for decoration. “Colors present themselves in continuous flux, [they are] constantly related to changing neighbors and changing conditions” This is the point of view of a german artist, Josef Albers.

Bradford Shellhammer, who is renowned for having a distinctive sense of design, once again demonstrates this by converting his 1840s three-bedroom farmhouse and its eight additional structures into the most Modernist Eden.

Vibrant, bold, and colorful color schemes and a variety of furniture are what set these spaces apart. Resembles a graphic design from the 1990s, which was more individualized than in any previous era. The combination of colors and materials used exhibits the influence of painters and others. The architect claims that the house was their inspiring project and that it is the outcome of being locked down, which erupted the need to act.

Let’s  Explore The Most Colorful Farm

The captivation begins on the outside. The black facade, which stands for the contemporary twist, begins to draw the eye. Road barns have stylistic contrasts from the outside to the inside. According to Bradford Shellhammer, the former owner of the property once paid a visit and said that her ancient farmhouse now resembles “a woman wearing too much mascara.”

Despite the striking contrast with the outside, the inside is superior. Although each piece of furniture exhibits its uniqueness in terms of shape and color, which blends wonderfully with the vibrant hue of the space, the hot pink color of the living room is what immediately catches the eye. In distinction to the room’s brown floor, the rug’s color and oval shape help each centerpiece stand out more.

Next to the living room is the magnificent blue room inspired by Yves Klein Blue. The dark blue tint of the blue Klein, which serves as its representation, stands out in contrast to the mostly black surroundings. According to the designer, Bradford Shellhammer, the development of the entire concept for this cool interior design came “from light”.

Blue Klein Sitting Room

“(…) Because the barns are different shapes, the sun hits different angles in interesting ways. ” as Bradford Shellhammer claims, it is possible to watch the hues change throughout the day.

By viewing the vibrant, strong, and brilliant color schemes as well as the artistic patterns employed in each space, the impression of a groovy interior design is made even stronger. The distinctiveness of Road Barns extends even further, from the vivid hue of the walls, which gives each room a distinct vibe, to the rooms’ abstract and floral patterns. That is perfectly reflected in the bedrooms.

The pattern, which involves all the blue bedrooms, comes from Marimekko, a free-spirited printing factory. Luis Urribarri, the first artist-in-residence at Rode Barns, painted the neon ceiling painting with a Bauhaus aesthetic in mind. Bradford Shellhammer states, “This is the house’s money shot.”

A dark rustic interior with an eclectic touch is what describes the Barford Shellhammer kitchen. The key to rustic design is a simple style that highlights the beauty of muted colors, natural materials, and cozy furnishings, which the designer used in an impressive way. He put the flowers to breathe a little more life into the space and keep it feeling vibrant.

The dining room, which fits perfectly with the kitchen design, has in the background an Andy Warhol (American actor and filmmaker) cow screenprint, known as pop art, giving a dramatic feeling to the space. Only the region that is illuminated by each individual piece of lighting is visible, leaving shadows in the spaces in between.

This iconic stairway at the farmhouse’s entryway is very reminiscent of pop art due to its bright yellow tone.  As Bradford Shellhammer expressed it, “you’d almost want to kinda lick the steps when you get near it,” so he designed the stairs to resemble flowing liquid candy.

Road Barns Living Room

A Groovy interior design farmhouse that emphasizes the use of strong, brilliant colors as well as the finer details in furniture and accessory pairings. Almost like a living showroom, it brings all the many artists together in the various rooms that make up the road barns. A challenge for the designer in space Rode Barns posed more than just the task of selecting colors. Even for Bradford Shellhammer, who enjoys frequently redecorating his flats like a living showroom, the scope of the entire property’s renovation was overwhelming.
